Gangs clash inside Uttar Pradesh jail, six injured

Meerut, Feb 14 (IANS) Two rival groups of gangsters clashed inside Meerut jail in Uttar Pradesh. Six inmates were critically injured.

The clash took place late Wednesday, when two rival gangsters of Meerut - Dharmendra Kirathal and Vinod Gurjar - clashed over an alleged taunting between them, which took an ugly turn with both sides using sharp edged weapons.

The district administration, on receiving a call from the jail authorities, raided the jail barracks and recovered iron rods, knives, choppers, seven mobile and SIM cards and0 Rs.7,000 in cash from the inmates.

The superintendent of Meerut Jail transferred 17 inmates belonging to Kirathal gang to other jails in the state and lodged a complaint with the police against others for legal action.
