Amritsar (ANI), Dec.5: Akal Takht, the highest Sikh governing body, on Saturday in an unprecedented step of declaring former Jathedar of Akal Takht Prof. Darshan Singh Ragi a “Tankhiya’ or, guilty of religious misconduct on having allegedly failed to submit clarification before the five Jathedars for his objectionable remarks against 10th Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh at a Rochester Gurdwara, New York.
The five Sikh high clergy, led by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, has on Saturday took the decision.
The clergy (on November 16) has sought a clarification from former Akal Takht Jathedar Prof. Darshan Singh for allegedly narrating a rather objectionable tale by connecting it to the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh recently.
However while announcing Prof. Darshan Singh “a tankhiya” from the rostrum of Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh the Jathedar of Akal Takht said that the five Jathedars have issued one month ultimatum to Prof. Darshan Singh to appear before them and accept Tankha or, religious punishment, failing which a more strenuous action would be taken against him.
Interestingly, Prof. Darshan Singh arrived in the Golden Temple complex around 10.30 am today and sat before Akal Takht with his supports including Parmjit Singh Sarna, Chief of Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) for nearly two hours but did not appear before the five Jathedars, who were sitting in Akal Takht Secretariat about 40 meters far from Akal Takht.
Prof. Darshan Singh left the Golden Temple after placing the copy of his clarification in front of Guru Granth Sahib at Akal Takht and leaving the five high priests. (ANI)

The controversial Ragi Darshan Singh must appear before the Sri Akal Takht Sahib before January 7th of 2010 as required
By Balbir Singh Sooch-Sikh Vichar Manch
Though, earlier the views were submitted in general, to avoid the controversy and the confrontation among Sikhs, but, now, in face of unquestionable, a final ultimatum by the five Singh Sahibans to the Ragi, he must appear before the Sri Akal Takht Sahib before January 7th of 2010 as required to avoid further severe action.
What was the explanation containing in the file left of documents of his clarification regarding his innocence, not submitted and appeared as was required, but, the Ragi handed over the file, containing his clarification, to the SGPC Secretary (after placing the copy of his clarification in front of Guru Granth Sahib at Akal Takht) before leaving with his supporters including Parmjit Singh Sarna, Chief of Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) as reported, be brought to the open knowledge of Sikhs? Or the Ragi himself must do so.
To my mind, Guru could never be insulted by anti-Sikhi behaviour and or by outright blasphemy against Guru Gobind Singh ji in the manner, but, such acts whole heartily required condemning straightening the history as the religious ignorance of this level was not an excuse in the case.
Moreover, Guru only knew as to what charismas, HE played and what for, in order to enlighten the world?
It is always wrong to hurt faith of any individual, group, section or community as already said, ‘everybody is religious and that may be directly in proportional to his wit and awareness, which always vary man to man’.
