Flower sapling sale increases with onset of spring in J.K
March 13th, 2011 - 4:32 pm ICT by ANISrinagar, Mar.13 (ANI): The sale of the flower saplings has increased in Jammu and Kashmir with the onset of spring season.
With the rise in the demand, the turnover of the flower business is estimated to be more than Rs 25 million.
Floriculture Department Director Gulam Sarwar Naqash, said that this year Kashmir’s weather supported floriculture therefore, Kashmiris should make full use of it.
He said: “From 21st March our spring season is going to start. What we have seen is that if the plantation will be done before 21st March then its survival rate would be very good. And by God’s grace this time weather of Kashmir is also supporting us fully.”
The increased demand for flowers has paved the way for expanding floriculture in the region. The growers are importing plants from other parts of the country.
Flower growers are taking interest in growing flowers, as this is providing them both employment and profits. (ANI)
