Five Maoists surrender in Orissa
January 16th, 2011 - 9:06 pm ICT by ANIJajpur (Orissa), Jan 16(ANI): Five Maoist ultras, all of them in their teens, have surrendered before top brass of the district police at Jajpur in Orissa.
Producing the surrendered Maoists before the mediapersons on Saturday, Senior Superintendent of Police D.S. Kuttey said that the administration would extend all assistance to the youngsters to reform and be a part of the mainstream of the society.
According to the police, among the surrendered ultras there is a juvenile aged 13, who happens to be a Communist Party of India (Maoist) card holder.
“Today total five persons (Maoists) have surrendered, in which one of them was a member of Communist Part of India (Maoists). His name is Suraj alias Suresh and his another nickname at home is Jamdam Hembram,” Kuttey said.
“There are other four persons who have surrendered among them there is this 13-year-old juvenile, his name is Sakey alias Saley Palea,” he added.
The SSP also said that the surrendered Maoists were involved in many of the attacks in the state.
The surrendered teenagers will now be given training under Orissa government’s rehabilitation policy set up to integrate them into the mainstream.
“These five persons who have surrendered will be provided with training in order to earn their livelihood, in whichever field they want. They can get training in driving, construction or carpentry,” Kuttey said.
“Training will be provided free of cost by the government and they would also get stipend and all other formalities required to give them better living and earning conditions would be done,” he added. (ANI)
