Many people are feared trapped under the debris. So far, thirteen people have been rescued. Additional forces were also called in to assist in the rescue work.
Most of the people residing in the building reportedly were labourers.
The building had been abandoned by most of the residents due to its dilapidated condition. It was being repaired to provide temporary accommodation to persons living in nearby slums, designated for redevelopment.
The injured have been rushed to the nearby Bhagwati hospital.
In July, Laxmi Chhaya, a six-storey building, in the same suburb had collapsed. (ANI)
