Filing of nomination for TN, Puducherry and Kerala to end today
March 26th, 2011 - 1:29 pm ICT by ANIChennai, Mar 26(ANI): Filing of nominations for the forthcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala comes to an end today.
The papers will be scrutinized on Monday and the last date for withdrawal is Wednesday.
In Chennai, the battle lines are drawn with the Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) led democratic progressive alliance facing All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) led alliance in Tamil Nadu.
Political leaders like DMK chief Karunanidhi, AIADMK chief Jayalalitha, Deputy Chief Minister Stalin, DMDK chief Vijayakanth are on a whirl wind campaign across the State.
In Puducherry, the Congress has entered into an seat sharing arrangement with the Search Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi(VCK), even as the opposition parties are continuing negotiations on seat sharing.
Hard bargaining and reconciliation are paving the way for the formation of two formidable alliances in the union territory.
After allotting 10 seats to its principal ally the DMK, Congress party had to give three seats to the PMK and VCK.
The party will be contesting in 17 seats, one more than it did in the 2006 elections.
In Kerala, Congress led United Democratic Front (UDF) having announced election manifesto yesterday is getting ready to reach all 140 constituencies in a big way.
Meanwhile, training programmes for officials on poll duty is fast progressing and electronic voting machines have arrived in the state.
Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry go to the polls on April 13. (ANI)
