Farooq Abdullah reviews renewable energy projects in J-K
May 13th, 2010 - 8:01 pm ICT by ANISrinagar, May 13 (ANI): Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who is on a two das visit to Jammu and Kashmir, met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here and reviewed ongoing renewable energy projects in the state.
Deepak Gupta, Secretary and other senior officers of his ministry, accompanied him.
Others at the review meeting included the State Minister for Power and the State Minister for Science and Technology, besides senior state bureaucrats.
Ongoing projects for remote village electrification, solar photovoltaics, small hydro power, biogas etc. sanctioned by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) which amounts to a total grant of over Rs. 100 crores to the State were reviewed in detail.
Various outcomes in terms of socio-economic development through solar home lights, biogas and generation of electricity through solar, small hydro and solar wind hybrid projects were presented by the State officials.
Chief MInister Omar Abdullah assured timely implementation of all ongoing projects and adequate provision of State share of funds for all the sanctioned projects. (ANI)
