Envoy claims no terrorists training camp in Pak

Washington , Oct 17 (ANI): Pakistan s ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani has claimed that there were no terrorists training camp in his country, and that the intelligence agency the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) could not be placed under the Interior Ministry due to the countrys Charter while its political cell had been terminated.

He said this while addressing a ceremony at the School of Advance International Studies in Washington .

The Pakistan government would introduce reforms in tribal areas, and according to it, local bodies system would be introduced in these areas, besides allowing political parties to work there, the Daily Times quoted Haqqani as saying.

No reforms would be introduced in Pakistan on the directives of any foreign country, he said and added that the newly-elected PPP-led government was introducing reforms keeping in view the national interests.

Expressing his views on Pakistan s relations with neighboring countries, he said the Indian government should assure Pakistani nation that it would not create hurdle in Pakistan s interest.

Pakistan , he said, intended to have brotherly relations with India , but 60 years old misunderstanding between both countries could not be ended in one night. The envoy went on to say that Pakistan wanted relations with Afghanistan based on brotherhood. (ANI)
