England hockey, lawn bowls teams become first overseas athletes to arrive
September 24th, 2010 - 6:52 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Sept.24 (ANI): The Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi on Friday welcomed 47 sportspersons and team officials of the England hockey and lawn bowls teams as the first overseas contingent to arrive here for the Commonwealth Games.Commonwealth Games England and its 17 member sports unanimously agreed that they will go to the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi, an official statement said.Commonwealth Games Federation President Mr. Mike Fennell, who arrived here on Thursday night, said: “I am certainly pleased to arrive in Delhi to the news that Australia has moved into the Village to ready for the arrival of their athletes, and with the conformation late on Thursday that England and Wales will be on their way to Delhi shortly. Already so many athletes from around the Commonwealth have started their journey to Delhi.” (ANI)
