Election Commission reviews Himachal Pradesh poll preparednessDecember 13th, 2007 - 4:26 pm ICT by admin
Shimla, Dec 13 (ANI): Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N. Gopalaswami today reviewed the poll preparations for the second phase of Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, scheduled to be held on December 19.
Gopalaswami alongwith two Election Commissioners Dr. S Y Qureshi and Navin Chawla met representatives of the political parties, senior civil and police officials and election observers.
The team also discussed the contingency plan to meet the situation during winter season. However, the Commission has already set December 22 as repolling date if required.
The second phase of polling in 65 constituencies will take place on December 19.
The first phase of polling was held in three tribal constituencies of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti and Bharmour on November 14.
The counting of votes will take place on December 28.
The term of the State Assembly is due to expire on March 9, 2008. (ANI)
