Election Commission denies reports about LS polls dates

New Delhi, Jan.28 (ANI): The Election Commission on Wednesday denied having finalized dates for the Lok Sabha elections as yet.
The clarifying remarks were made with reference to some media reports quoting the Election Commissioner S. Y. Qureshi stating that the Lok Sabha elections would be held between April 8 to May15.
“The EC has not met so far to decide any dates for general elections. Any story quoting the dates has no authenticity,” an EC spokesman said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday evening, Election Commissioner S. Y. Qureshi after delivering a lecture on ”J and K Elections 2008”, at the India House in London had stated: We, in the Election Commission, have not yet discussed the final dates, but it will be held between April 8 and May 15.”
The term of the 14th Lok Sabha expires in May and announcement of the poll schedule is expected soon. (ANI)
