Eight rebels surrender in Manipur
April 3rd, 2011 - 5:40 pm ICT by ANIImphal, Apr 3 (ANI): At least eight rebels recently laid down their arms and decided to return to the mainstream of society.
The surrendered rebels belong to five outfits United National Liberation Front, Kangleipak Communist Party, Military Task Force, United People’s Party of Kangleipak, KCP-MC Lamyanba Khuman and Peoples’ Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak.
They deposited seven pistols with magazines, huge quantity of lives rounds, six bombs, one hand grenade and one Kenwood set and five detonators.
“They all are young boys who have been misled. I think they have seen the reason giving up weapon and returning to normal life. Manipur police and we are working together to help them to get back into the society and returning to a normal life,” said CA Krishnan, Major General, IGAR South.
“I realized that whatever we did was wrong and now I don’t want to continue so I have surrendered to the security forces,” said a surrendered cadre.
Since April 2010, over 105 militants have given up their arms. (ANI)
