Egyptian woman gives birth to septuplets!
August 17th, 2008 - 5:37 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend:Melbourne, Aug 17 (ANI): A 27-year-old Egyptian woman has given birth to septuplets in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria.
The director of the El-Shatbi Hospital, Emad Darwish, said that Ghazala Khamis was in a stable condition, though she did require blood transfusion during the caesarean section births due to bleeding.
The premature babies, four boys and three girls, have been placed in incubators.
“This is a very rare pregnancy, something I have never witnessed over my past 33 years in this profession,” News.com.au quoted Darwish, as saying.
Darwish said that he decided to conduct the caesarean at the end of the eighth month of pregnancy, due to the pressure of the womb on the mother’’s kidneys.
The babies” weights range from 1.45kg to 2.8kg.
Khamis, the wife of a farmer from the northern province of Beheira, already has three girls.
She was admitted to the hospital two months earlier.
“There have been complications in the pregnancy so she has been with us for some time so we could ensure everything would be all right,” Darwish said. (ANI)
