New Delhi, July 26 (ANI): The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on food security headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to meet on Monday evening.
The EGoM is likely to discuss various proposals, including the sale of an additional 30-lakh tonnes of rice and wheat through the public distribution system and imposition of import duty on refined sugar.
The EGoM will also consider drafting of the food security bill, increase in the issue price of food grains for above poverty line families and sugar sold through ration shops.
In the last EGoM meeting, the imposition of import duty was delayed due to high inflation. (ANI)
