Efforts on to form a national unity government in Nepal
August 5th, 2008 - 6:28 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend: Kathmandu, Aug 5 (ANI): Nepals major political parties including the CPN-Maoist, the Nepali Congress (NC), the UML and the Madhesi Peoples Rights Fourm (MPRF) in the Constituent Assembly (CA) are meeting here at Singha Durbar to form a national unity Government in Nepal.
The ongoing meeting at the Maoist parliamentary party office is expected to finalise the structure of the future Government.
The major parties joint meeting comes in what appears to be the eleventh hour attempt before the end of the deadline after President Dr Ram Baram Yadav invited the parties to form a consensus Government.
Earlier today, the Maoists and the CPN-UML leaders discussed the formation of the post-election Government.
During the meeting, the Maoists reportedly proposed the UML to form a majority government if the parties failed to forge an agreement for a consensus government. However, the UML have stressed the need to form a national consensus government. (ANI)
