Raipur, Sep.22 (ANI): While digging a private house, a fossil, which looks like of some dinosaur species, has been found in Chhattisgarhs Dhamtari district. The fossil is 60 centimetres long. The head of the discovered structure is nine centimetres in size, the forefeet are 8 centimetres, and rear feet are 25 centimetres in size.
Though the eyes of the fossil have spoilt, the skin has not. The skull and the teeth of discovered fossil are in proper condition. The cartilage of the ear is also intact.
“The skin and the teeth of the specimen is intact and it is an extraordinary finding. This seems to be a reptile or predecessor of dinosaurs,” said Dr. Kenny of the Indian Forest Services.
The claimed fossil was found in Dhamtari district while carrying out digging at a private house. And, it was later handed over to the forest officials.
“I was digging this piece of land when saw this fossil. I took it to my home but my wife asked me to throw it away. When I came out, the other villagers were ready to buy it. But I was asked by my neighbour to submit it to the forest authorities. It looked somewhat like a dinosaur,” said Rajesh Sharma, the person who first noticed the fossil while digging at his ancestral house.
“This specimen seems to a predecessor of dinosaur and is about 60 to 70 years old,” said Aanand Kurejia, forest officer.
The fossils specimen has been sent to experts in Ranchi for further study. (ANI)
