Development work, police action can address Maoist issue in India: IG, CRPF
February 10th, 2011 - 3:15 pm ICT by ANICoimbatore, Feb 10 (ANI): N. R. K. Reddy, Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has said the Maoist issue could be rightly addressed with a mixture of development initiatives and police action.
Talking to mediapersons at the passing out parade of 77th batch of Sub-Inspectors here, Reddy said to address the issue developmental work should go hand in hand with police action.
“It has to be a mixture of police action plus developmental work that has to take place, win the hearts and minds of the people, that what now they say hearts and minds of the people have to be won, take them back into the fold and win them away. So, I think presently what we are feeling is mixing up both, on one hand tackling the law and order issue at the same time developmental issue also. They are all going together,” said Reddy.
Reddy added there were number of successful operations in the last six months.
“In the last six months, I think we have started getting back; there have been lot of successes in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, everywhere and after that I think we have hardly lost one or two boys and in fact we have made lot of good successful operations,” added Reddy.
Reddy further said the State governments are coming up with Special Task Force and all jungle warfare techniques are being taught to the security personnel and all this is showing good result. (ANI)
