Amethi (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 1 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who is on a three-day tour of his parliamentary constituency Amethi, on Wednesday said the poor people can develop only if they are provided with an opportunity to be linked with the other sections of the society.
Gandhi, who is here to evaluate a number of Government sponsored public welfare schemes and other projects mooted by him, said the only way of making poor people develop is by providing them a gateway to be linked with the other sections of the society.
Addressing a public gathering here today, Rahul Gandhi said that when he travels to various parts of India, he sees two Indias - the rich and the poor.
“I see two Indias. One belongs to the rich and privileged people and the other is of the poor people. The only difference between the two is, the rich and privileged people get chances to develop, whereas the poor and under privileged people don’t get chances to develop and move forward,” said Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi mentioned that the only way of making poor people develop is by providing them a gateway to be linked with the other sections of the society.
“When does a person develop? When he is connected with the rest of the world and is given a chance, then they will automatically stand on their own feet and develop,” noted Gandhi.
The Gandhi scion also inaugurated Internet services for some Panchayats and 3G services as well.
“By providing these services, a chance is being given to the locals of Amethi to develop and they should make full use of this chance because education and computer is the only way to be connected with the rest of the world,” he added.
During the three-day tour, Rahul Gandhi is expected to meet the Congress part workers and activists of the Youth Congress, besides attending a number of programmes. (ANI)
