New Delhi, Feb.21 (ANI): A unique design collection in hues of charcoal, dark blue, ebony and bitter chocolate along with clean and uncluttered dresses, skirts, coats and jackets are slated to be the new fashion mantra at the upcoming India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter’ 2008.
Titled ‘Mode in India’- the collection for contemporary Indian men and women will be a celebration of global influence of Indian fashion.
Designed by Ashish Soni and Anamika Khanna, the collection will wrap up the Grand Finale at the Fashion Week.
“There is going to be a theme. A full thought process that will go behind the show. What you just saw was titled ‘Mode in India’. ‘Mode’ for those who don’t know what it is, is fashion in French. What we are saying is that India has arrived in every way possible. The world’s waking up to see that. Whether it’s the economic boom or the way the country is progressing on the whole. And we are just saying fashion is part of that movement and we will be presenting elements of that transition from the last many years and what we feel, moving forward fashion in India is all about,” said Ashish Soni.
The collection reflects crisp winters evening feel in fabrics such as cashmere, wool, viscose knits, flannel and silk, which emphasizes silhouette and surface detail of the dresses.
With an emphasis on luxury, the collection will be clean, sharp and edgy. Fashion and intellect combine to create this unique couture for both men and women.
The shows will be held outside the ballrooms of luxury hotels and in the auditoriums of Pragati Maidan, a sprawling venue designed for trade fairs, which was also the venue for the Fashion Week last year.
The India Fashion Week Autumn Winter’ 08 will be held here from March 12-16. (ANI)
