New Delhi, June 11 (ANI): Indian Mujahideen (IM) militant Akbar Ismail Choudhary, who is an accused in the September 13, 2008 serial bomb blasts in New Delhi, was brought to Delhi from Hyderabad by the Special Cell Of Delhi Police on Thursday.

Choudhury is suspected to be involved in the Karol Bagh blast case. “Akbar Ismail Choudhury was brought to Delhi on Thursday on a transit remand from Hyderabad in connection with the Sep 13 Delhi serial blasts. He will be produced in Tis Hazari court later in the afternoon and we will seek his custody for interrogation into the Delhi blasts,” DCP (Special Cell) Alok Kumar said.

Six blasts across the national capital on Sep 13, 2008 left 26 people dead and several injured.

According to police, Coudhary along with Mohammad Mansoor Ashgar Peerbhoy allegedly headed the media cell of the Indian Mujahideen, which sent e-mails to media groups claiming responsibility for the blasts.

The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra Police had arrested Choudhury, along with three other members of the IM in 2008.

He was an accused in the twin blasts in Hyderabad in 2007. (ANI)
