Manmohan Singh New Delhi, Aug 4 (ANI): The Delhi Unit of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) staged a demonstration here on Wednesday against the deep-rooted corruption and misappropriation of public money by the 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee under the connivance of Central Government and Delhi Government.

JD-U Delhi unit General Secretary and spokesperson Prabhat Ranjan said: “Party National General Secretary Javed Raza demanded the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, to set up a high level enquiry and punish the guilty.”

“The diversion of SC/ST funds of the Delhi Government in the name of Commonwealth Games is also illegal and unconstitutional and the culprit should be brought to the book,” he added.

Ranjan further said a memorandum addressed to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has been handed over to intervene.

It has been reported that a recent query by a Right to Information activist showed that the Delhi Government allegedly diverted Rs 744 crore from Special Component Plan for SC/ST to Games projects, thereby flouting the guidelines set up by the Planning Commission. (ANI)
