Deer die in mysterious circumstances in Kanpur Zoo
September 13th, 2009 - 4:48 pm ICT by ANIKanpur, Sep 13 (ANI): At least 13 deer and a stag were found dead under mysterious circumstances in zoological park here on Saturday.
Their sudden death has created an uproar in the city.
The director of the Kanpur Zoo, K.Praveen Rao, said: “Thirteen deer and one stag have died. Post mortem is being conducted. After that viscera samples would be sent to IVRI (Indian Veterinary Research Institute at Izzatnagar), Bareilly. We can come to a conclusion about the reason behind the deaths only after the physio-pathological examinations.”
The authorities have suspended two keepers and a supervisor for dereliction of duty.
Zoo authorities are assuming that the animals might have died from eating poor quality fodder. (ANI)
