Death toll in Tamil Nadu cracker unit fire rises to 32
October 17th, 2009 - 11:35 am ICT by ANIPallipat (TN), Oct 17 (ANI): The death toll in Friday’s cracker godown fire in Pallipat near Tamil Nadu rose to 32 after two more bodies were pulled out of the godown.
According to sources, 40 people were believed to be present in the godown during the time of the mishap.
The bodies have been taken to the government hospital in Tiruttani.
Majority of the victims are believed to be from Andhra Pradesh’s Chitoor district.
Rescue operations were on to see if there were any other charred bodies stuck in the burnt godown.
The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained. (ANI)
