London, June 22 (ANI): Soccer ace David Beckham and other England football stars are apparently the targets of a terror attack by Al-Qaida.
Reports gathered by MI6 suggests an attack on the holiday destination of Dubai, where Beckham and other stars have homes, could be imminent, reports the Daily Star.
The Foreign office has raised the level of threat faced by the United Arab Emirates from general to high.
The British Embassy in Dubai warned travellers: There is a high threat from terrorism.
We believe terrorists may be planning to carry out attacks in the United Arab Emirates. Attacks could be indiscriminate and could happen at any time, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers such as residential compounds, military, oil, transport and aviation interests.
You should maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public place, the British Embassy added.
Beckham and other footballers Gary Neville, Michael Owen, David James, Joe Cole, Andy Cole and Kieron Dyer all own properties on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah, known as the eighth wonder of the world.
The millionaires playground has been mentioned several times as a potential target on al-Qaida websites monitored by the security services. (ANI)
