New Delhi, Oct 15 (ANI): The condition of Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, who was admitted to AIIMS after suffering from a heart stroke, is improving, said hospital sources.
AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. D. K. Sharma said: “He has shown considerable improvement. He is now completely off the ventilator and his respiration has returned to normal.”
He added: “He has still not regained consciousness and these improvements do not guarantee that he is completely out of danger. His vitals are stable, his BP, heart-rate and urine output are normal. His condition is as such that these improvements can worsen anytime.”
The team of doctors attending to Dasmunsi is led by the head of the department of cardiology Dr VK Behl.
Dasmunsi was rushed to the hospital at around 2.30 a.m. on Monday after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by heart failure. He was put on a ventilator.
During the past three days, President Pratibha Patil, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav visited the hospital to enquire about his health.
The senior Congress leader has a 10-year history of diabetes. This was his second heart attack in three months. Dasmunsi had suffered a heart attack July 8. He had undergone an angioplasty and stenting of two coronary arteries. (ANI)
