Manali, Aug 23 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who is on his four-day-long visit to the Kullu-Manali region of Himachal Pradesh, said the ‘Middle Way Path’ and non-violence can solve the Tibetan autonomy issue.
“About the ‘Middle Way path’ there are critical views, but majority fully support it. From time-to time, you can ask for opinions or suggestions. So, a majority of them fully support the ‘Middle Path’. As far as non-violence is concerned, even the youth organisations are fully committed,” said the Dalai Lama on Sunday.
China has accused the Dalai Lama of being a ’splittist’ and seeking independence of Tibet, but he says he only wants autonomy for the Tibetans.
The Dalai Lama has in recent years called for limited autonomy for Tibet, but some Tibetans are demanding full independence.
He suggested that Buddhists acquire knowledge about modern science and yet preserve their traditional values. (ANI)
