Cypriot Foreign Minister in Delhi for three days

New Delhi, Apr 17 (ANI): Cypriot Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou arrived here on Sunday on a three-day state visit.

Kyprianou will call on Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari tomorrow morning, which would be followed by a meeting with Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj.

The visiting Minister would meet Anant Kumar, chairperson, Standing Committee on External Affairs, on Monday evening.

The Cypriot Foreign Minister will lay a wreath at Rajghat on Tuesday morning.

He would meet External Affairs Minister S M Krishna later in the day before emplaning for Abu Dhabi on Tuesday night.

Relations between India and Cyprus have been traditionally very close and friendly. Archbishop Makarios had the highest respect for Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and was deeply appreciative of the support rendered by India to the struggle of Cyprus against British colonial rule.

India has strongly supported the cause of safeguarding the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Cyprus. (ANI)
