Srinagar, Feb.27 (ANI): In the wake of several deaths and casualties caused by snow avalanches, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir region is undergoing training to rescue people who are stranded.

The region has received heavy snowfall due to the influence of western disturbances, resulting in numerous avalanches.

According to Prabhakar Tripathi, Public Relation Officer, CRPF, the Jawans have been trained to provide services at any time.

“The quick action team that has been trained is always well-equipped and is ready all the time. All the cars are ready; all the accessories required in the operation are ready,” he said.

Forces are specially trained and taught the tactics of rescuing trapped people, first aid treatment, how to make the way to reach the snow avalanche spots and other related activities.

Officials are also briefed about the dos and don’ts during the rescue operation and have also been taught the usage of avalanche chords, beacons, probes, shovels, and other equipment.

Satish Gujjar, a member of the CRPF rescue team said this would not only help the civilians but also the army men who lose their life in the destructive avalanches.

“In this training session we are taught how to use the equipments like shovels, spalls, that are very useful in removing snow. To carry out rescue operations at night, we are taught how to use generators to provide light at the site and find trapped people,” he added. (ANI)
