New Delhi July 12, (ANI): The central committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is likely to come out with a decision today on infighting in its Kerala unit.

The two-day meet that began on Saturday, is discussing the fate of Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and party’s state unit secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, who are on a warpath.

The politburo, which met on July 4, and 5, failed to arrive at a conclusion on the issue and decided to refer the matter to the party’s central committee.

Politburo, which met again on Saturday morning ahead of the central committee’s meeting, gave a final touch to its proposals on the issue.

According to sources the central committee is likely to take disciplinary actions against both of these leaders. Achuthanandan is likely to be out of politburo, and Vijayan might loose the post of party’s state unit secretary.

The politburo has also been divided as party’s General Secretary Prakash Karat favoring Vijayan, and Sitarm Yechury and Manik Sarkar backing Achuthanandan.

In the wake of Viajyan’s exit from the party’s post, politburo member S.Ramachandran Pillai is likely to be front-runner for the post of state unit secretary. (ANI)
