CPI (M) accuses PM of going soft on IPL-bid accused

Kolkata, June 6 (ANI): Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI (M) on Sunday accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for being biased towards his coalition partners and party members allegedly involved in the Indian Premier League-bid controversy.
Speaking to media persons after the two-day CPI (M) Politburo meet that concluded in New Delhi on Sunday, CPI (M) politburo member Madhukar Kashinath Pandhe said the PM has deliberately not expelled Congress party-led coalition supporters and members even though incriminating reports have been found against them in the IPL-bid imbroglio, as this might endanger the shaky alliance.
When asked about Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar’s alleged involvement, Pandhe said that he should follow Tharoor’s example and resign.
“Shashi Tharoor is from the Congress party. The government today is based on different parties in the country. The Prime Minister cannot shake other parties. There were many reports against A. Raja but the supporters of DMK (Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam) want him. Whatever you want to call it you can, but the government is standing on this basis of banking others support,” said Pandhe.
The parliamentary committee of CPI (M) will be meeting again when the draft will be finalised and presented in the second week of July.
The senior leaders will also have an extended meeting on several party issues in August. (ANI)
