New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): The Delhi Couture Week has started here with a fashion show featuring designs of renowned couturists.
The weeklong event, that started on Tuesday, will exhibit designs of renowned designers such as Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Malhotra, Gaurav Gupta, Rohit Bal, Rina Dhaka, Raakesh Agarwal, Manav Gangwani, Pallavi Jaikishan, Anamika Khanna, and J. J. Valaya.
The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) organised this event, which has started with a fashion show by eminent designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, featuring his vintage collection called ‘Aparajito’.
Talking to media persons, Mukherjee said the collection is “museum-like”.
“The whole collection had a very vintage, almost heroic period feel to it. It could be something that you straight get out of the Victoria Albert museum; it has a museum-like quality to it,” said Mukherjee
Bollywood actors Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan also attended the show.
Talking to reporters Bollywood actor Vidya Balan said the collection was “magnificent”.
“I don’t think anyone layers like Sabyasachi, how much ever he uses, whether he uses gold, velvet, whatever he uses it never looks over-the-top; it is just so magnificent and beautiful,” said Vidya Balan.
Bollywood actor Rani Mukherjee also strongly endorsed the designer.
“Sabyasachi is very dear friend of mine and I like his clothes very much, more than anything. I think, it is an association for life, and I think we are friends for life and as well as everybody knows that girls love clothes, so I love clothes also, and to have a friend like Sabyasachi, I always have an added advantage because he makes such beautiful clothes, and when I wear his clothes I really feel nice,” said Rani Mukherjee
The fashion show displayed 40 women’s wear and 15 pieces of men’s wear.
Several celebrities and fashion divas across the country are expected to be a part of this glamorous weeklong fashion extravaganza.
