Conspiracy being hatched around me in Bangalore serial blasts: Madani
June 23rd, 2010 - 12:53 pm ICT by ANIKarunagapally (Kerala), June 23 (ANI): Abdul Nasser Madani, leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has contended that a conspiracy is being hatched against him in connection with the 2008 Bangalore serial blasts.
Addressing a gathering here on Tuesday, Madani said: “Police Commissioner of Bangalore told him that he would be the first accused and not the 31st and, termed it as a conspiracy against him.
“When I contacted Bangalore City (Police) Commissioner Shankar Bidari he told that I will be the first accused in the Bangalore Blast Case and not the 31st, and finally, when we see the proceedings of the court, it seems that everything is becoming true and, it is a conspiracy against me. The charge sheet is still being prepared,” said Madani.
Earlier, hundreds of agitated supporters gathered at Anwarsseri Yatheemkhana, the residence of Madsani and headquarters of the PDP.
They raised slogans expressing their solidarity with him and also to resist his arrest.Poonthura Siraj, the working chairman of PDP said he would meet Kerala’s Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and relate how their leader has become ill and weak became of this long trial.
“We will visit again the Chief Minister and the opposition leader that he (Madani) is innocent and not to arrest him and put him behind the bars. After his long custody and stay in jail, he has become weak and ill,” Siraj added.
Earlier, a city court had adjourned the hearing of the anticipatory bail plea filed by Madani to June 29.
The Karnataka Police has charged Madani for treason, terrorism and attempt to murder. They also allege that Madani was part of the planning of the blast and helped terrorists for ‘jihad’.
Madani came out of the Coimbatore jail in 2007 after spending nine years in connection with the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts. (ANI)
