New Delhi, June 19(ANI): Congress workers celebrated the party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s 40th birthday on Saturday with fanfare by dancing to the drumbeats, raising slogans and bursting firecrackers outside their headquarters here.
Although Gandhi was not in town, it did not dampen the spirits of the workers, as they expressed their desire to see him as the next Prime Minister of the country.
“Rahal Gandhi has turned 40 today. Today he has completed 1000 days in Congress party and he has done so much work for the country in these 1000 days, which no other politician can do in even 40,000 days,” said Ashok Randhava, a supporter.
“He thinks for the welfare of the country. He understands the country and the people living here. He is visiting every state and if he wishes he can be the Prime Minister, but he is understanding the country first and then he will think of becoming the Prime Minister.”
“We give our blessings to him so that he becomes the Prime Minister soon,” he added.
Activists of Youth Congress organized programmes all over the country to celebrate his birthday.
Meanwhile, in Jaipur, one of his supporters, Vijesh Saini, presented a full length Rahul Chalisa written on the pattern of Hanuman Chalisa to Rahul Gandhi.
“I have written a chalisa, which consists of all the four religions. Rahul Gandhi has completed four decades so I have decided to give him this chalisa on all the four religions,” Saini said.
“Since Rahul has turned 40 years, I’ve written 40 chaupai (Hindi verse). This chalisa contains all the good verses of the four religions,” he added.
Saini, an engineer by profession, is a big fan of the Gandhi family and has written many books and poems on Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and now Rahul Gandhi. (ANI)
