New Delhi, Mar 6(ANI): Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) General Secretary Prakash Karat on Sunday predicted that the Congress party would sort out its issues with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

Karat’s comment comes after the DMK decided to pull out of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre after talks between the two parties on seat-sharing for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections failed.

“Troubles within the UPA -Congress and its partners- is nothing new. Earlier also we have seen disagreements between the Congress and the DMK and the ministries formation. So, it is up to them, they will sort it,” Karat said.

A month prior to the provincial assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, the DMK has said that its six ministers in the Union Cabinet would quit and the party would lend ‘only issue based support’ to the UPA government in New Delhi.

Elections on April 13 would choose a new 234-member legislature in Tamil Nadu.

The DMK is the second biggest ally in the UPA with 18 lawmakers in the Lok Sabha. (ANI)
