New Delhi, Jan.26 (ANI): The Congress Working Committee (CWC) due to be held on January 29 in the national capital would finalise the poll manifesto and party’’s strategy to prepare for the Lok Sabha elections.
Congress party expects the dates for the Lok Sabha elections to be announced anytime between February 15 and March1 and the CWC will take stock of the poll preparedness of the party for the “gruelling election months” ahead.
“The draft manifesto will be submitted to the CWC and the Congress President,” the Chief Spokesman M. Veerappa Moily said after a meeting of the Manifesto Committee headed by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The CWC is also likely to discuss the claims of various UPA allies like the SP, RJD and NCP for seat-sharing in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra respectively.
The CWC meeting this time, however, would miss the inputs of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, recuperating from a bypass surgery conducted at the AIIMS.
The Party high command has already issued directions to all the state units, PCC chiefs and General Secretaries in-charge of the states to send a list of probable candidates for the parliamentary seats by the end of the month.
Party Chief Sonia Gandhi is likely to set the tone for the elections in the CWC meeting followed by the convention of the Block and District Presidents of the party on February 8 in New Delhi.
