Agartala, Nov 26 (ANI): A 12-hour general strike in Agartala, called by the Tripura Youth Congress Committee (TYCC), began this morning to protest against the murder of former youth congress leader Mantu Das (43) who was shot dead on November 24 night in his house by some unknown miscreants.
The strike had a partial impact across the city. Most business establishments were closed and a few vehicles were seen plying the roads.
Though government offices ran normally, office goers faced problems reaching their places of work.
Educational institutions deferred the examination to be held today.
Flights and the trains were on schedule, but people faced trouble in reaching both the airport and the railway station due to poor transportation.
The Congress has described Mantu’s killing as politically motivated. (ANI)
