Congress responsible for Babri demolition: LaluApril 18th, 2009 - 5:20 pm ICT by ANI
Manigachi (Bihar), Apr 18 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Saturday said the Congress was responsible for the demolition of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya in 1992.
“The Congress failed to protect the Babri mosque, as it did nothing to prevent it. Not only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress is also equally responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya,” Prasad said at an election rally here.
“When the Babri Masjid was demolished, the Congress was in power at the Centre. There is little doubt that it provided tacit support to the BJP instead of preventing them from demolishing the mosque,” Prasad added.
Without naming the Congress, Prasad said if anyone continued to talk nonsense, he would reveal more.
Prasad also gave the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a new name- Bharat Jalao Party.
The RJD chief also criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for pressurizing District Magistrates and Commissioners to recommend cancellation of voting at polling stations in areas influence of RJD. (ANI)
