Mumbai, Jan.18 (ANI): The ruling Congress Party along with a private firm on Saturday felicitated persons displaying courage during the terror attacks in the country.
The awardees included posthumous security personnel and officers who lost their lives during the November 26 Mumbai terror attack that claimed at least 179 lives.
Awards named as ”Shaurya Puraskar” were also presented to medal winners in Olympics last year and to late astronaut Kalpana Chawla who made the country proud.
“Everybody has done good work and especially I want to tell Kalpana Chawla’’s (late astronaut) father that what he told us was simply amazing. He told us several things about her which common man is not aware of. So all of us were shocked and it was a historical moment for all of us. She did really good work,” said Vijender Singh, India’’s Olympic bronze medal winning boxer.
Veteran Bollywood actor Moushmi Chatterji presented awards to children who survived fall in bore well in India.
“I will like to give… who serve the country, who gave their life to the country, to the nation. So I have great respect because what they did I don”t think so normal people can do, they are above us. And even the families who have suffer loss; I would be looking to be with them if I can. I would consider myself really lucky, said Chatterji.
Several other achievers in various fields who brought fame to the nation and the ones who made difference in life of others were also presented with an award.
Organised for the first time by the private firm in Mumbai, the award ceremony was attended by Bollywood comedian Johnny Lever and other eminent personalities from different fields. (ANI)
