Patna (Bihar), Nov 10 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the ruling Congress party of being the political beneficiary of the misdeeds of regional radical Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party.
“The beneficiary of the politics that is going on is Congress party. The party escapes whenever something like this which damages the social fabric of the society. Sometime people from Bihar are beaten and now the way a legislator was beaten up for taking oath in Hindi, all these are unacceptable. The federal government should intervene otherwise people will think that Congress party is the one behind it,” said the State Chief Minister.
The legislators of the right-wing Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) assaulted Abu Azmi, a legislator of the newly elected Maharashtra state assembly on November 9 for taking oath in Hindi, and not in the regional language Marathi.
Raj Thackeray, the chief of MNS had asked all his newly elected legislators (MLAs) to take the oath only in Marathi.
The legislators snatched the microphone placed for taking oath at the podium and when Azmi tried to save himself, MNS member Ram Kadam slapped him.
Members of the MNS party were earlier involved in thrashing people of north Indian community living in western Maharashtra state.
MNS has a powerful influence over Mumbai, much like its larger political rival Shiv Sena, drawing sustenance from the politics of resisting immigration into Mumbai by Indians from states other than Maharashtra, and championing the cause of regional language Marathi. (ANI)
