Jammu, Nov 12 (IANS) Scores of Congress leaders and workers held a demonstration here Friday against the “objectionable” remarks of former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K.S. Sudarshan on party president Sonia Gandhi.
Congress leaders held the demonstration outside the Pradesh Congress Committee office at Shahidi Chowk and demanded an “unqualified apology” from Sudarshan terming his remarks as against the norms of decency in public life.
The party workers carrying Congress flags shouted slogans against the RSS and Sudarshan.
It is for the first time in years that the Congress party workers here have held any demonstration against the RSS, as Jammu city is known as a bastion of Hindu groups.
PCC senior vice president Dharam Pal Sharma said “the RSS which calls itself as a party of the pure and claims high moral ground on all issues did not adhere to basic fundamentals of politics”.
Sharma demanded that Sudarshan should “tender an unqualified apology” for his remarks.
