October 11th, 2009 - 12:39 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Oct 11 (ANI): Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Secretary General Lalit Bhanot has said that the visiting CGF delegations was satisfied with the sports area presentation.
Addressing reporters after the executive meeting here on Saturday, Bhanot said: “They were not only satisfied, but they praised the presentation because it is not just we are on time but we are ahead of schedule as far as the sports area is concerned.”
Delegates from all the 71 member nations of the CGF are presently in New Delhi ahead of the CGF General Assembly on October 12. They inspected a few under-construction venues and the Games Village on Thursday.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be India’s first major international sports event after the 1982 Asian Games. New Delhi hosted the inaugural Asian Games in 1951 and again in 1982.
Delhi had bagged the contract after beating the Canadian city Hamilton in the bid for the games.
The Games will be staged in India for the first time and in Asia for the second time. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, held the Commonwealth Games in 1998. (ANI)
