London, Oct 6 (ANI): Comedian Harry Enfield has been prohibited to play the role of a sex-crazed Muslim hoodie in his new BBC comedy show Harry And Paul.

Executives at the production company Tiger Aspect have asked the 47-year-old star to scrap his plans to play the unnamed Muslim because it might cause trouble.

In fact, Enfield claimed that for this very reason, he was warned not to do the role of paedophile Catholic priest Father Paddy, another new character.

“I was told, ”Don”t even go there,” the Telegraph quoted Enfield as saying.

The new series was set to reunite Enfield with his comedy partner Paul Whitehouse for the first time in eight years.

Tiger Aspect Productions said that they decided to do away with the unnamed Muslim Hoodie and Father Paddy much before the series was aired, and so the ban on the characters had not affected the show’’s production or launch.

“The characters never made it further than the page. This was a decision taken collectively by key members of the production team at the time of making the series almost two years ago, said a spokesman.

Enfield was recently named Loaded Legend at Loaded magazine’’s annual Lafta comedy awards.

Also, the BBC recently received complaints about two EastEnders story lines involving Muslims and paedophiles. (ANI)
