Clothes made from recycled material sizzle India Fashion Week
April 10th, 2011 - 6:56 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Apr.10 (ANI): Clothes made from waste materials recycled from factories caught everybody’s attention on the fourth day of the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week at the Pragati Maidan in Delhi.
The collection has been designed by Niki Mahajan, who has been a part of the Indian fashion industry for over 20 years and has recreated many techniques and styles to come up with unique collections.
“I have used sustainable fashion. All the clothes featured on the ramp are made from waste materials recycled from the factories,” she said.
Judging by the huge turnout of fashion enthusiasts at the event, many designers hope to see India emerge as a global fashion destination soon.
Well-known fashion designer, Ritu Kumar, said that the enthusiasm had grown because of an increasing fashion and style sense among the Indians.
Kumar said: “Not only urban, even smaller towns are getting extremely fashion conscious, particularly since our collections are made keeping the Indian clientele in mind.”
” It’s not totally western so a lot of people can communicate with it. People wear a lot of clothes which are made only by Indian fashion designers for the Indian market,” she added.
Many celebrities and personalities were also seen on the fourth day of the fashion week on Saturday.
In this edition of autumn-winter collection, 48 models will walk the ramp for five day for 77 designers and will showcase 2460 creations.
The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week began on Wednesday (April 06) and will continue till Sunday (April 10). (ANI)
