Melbourne, Nov 6 (ANI): A psychologist has cleared the way for all rounder Andrew Symonds return to the Australian team. His return to the Test fold could occur in as little as two weeks at the Gabba.

The troubled all-rounder has made impressive progress in his Cricket Australia-ordered rehabilitation program and he will be declared available for selection for the first Test against New Zealand, starting on November 20, The Daily Telegraph quoted sources, as saying.

Symonds could even return to the team as soon as next week, when Australia take on an All Stars team in an exhibition Twenty20 match at the Gabba on November 14.

There was no time-frame put on Symonds confidential rehab program, in which he was ordered to see sports psychologist Phil Jauncey and other specialists.

The fact Symonds will soon be available will prompt selectors into a major rethink as they review the series in India, with the fourth Test starting in Nagpur today.

Highly placed CA officials want Symonds back in a baggy green cap and have been told he has already ticked most of the boxes of the rehab course.

We want him back as soon as possible. He has done pretty much everything required of him, the paper quoted a CA source, as saying.

After his gone fishing episode in Darwin in August, Symonds was tossed into the cricketing wilderness and has been playing for the Queensland Bulls in low-profile interstate matches.

However, the 33-year-olds form this season has been poor and he has scored just 80 runs at 13.33 in three Sheffield Shield matches for the Bulls.

Yesterday, Symonds was caught for just three runs in Queenslands Ford Ranger Cup match against the Warriors in WA. (ANI)
