Bhopal, Dec 12 (ANI): Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was sworn-in as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for a second term here on Friday and begins second innings. He was elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party on December 10.
Chouhan was BJP’’s chief ministerial candidate and his election as legislature party leader was merely a formality, which the newly-elected MLAs completed in a short time.
Party leaders termed five factors — local situation, local issues, selection of local as candidate, local state leadership and the state government’’s performance played a crucial role in party’’s success.
These five factors made deep influence in the minds of the people and that only brought the party back to power.
The ceremony was attended by BJP’’s senior leaders including Rajnath Singh and L.K. Advani. Uttaranchal Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal were also present on the occasion. Shivraj Singh Chauhan born 5 March 1959. He replaced Babulal Gaur as the chief minister on 29 November 2005. He is a five-time Member of the Lok Sabha from the Vidisha constituency of Madhya Pradesh and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) political party. Besides this, he has also served as General Secretary of the BJP and State President, Madhya Pradesh BJP. Shivraj Singh Chauhan was a gold medallist in M. A. (Philosophy) from the Barkatullah University, Bhopal. His fathers name is Shri Prem Singh Chouhan and mother’’s name is Smt. Sundar Bai Chouhan. He was married to Smt. Sadhana Singh in 1992. They have two sons. He joined the RSS in 1997. He belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party and has been the president of its Madhya Pradesh state party unit in the recent past. He has been a five-time Member of Parliament, representing Vidisha in the Lok Sabha since 1991. At present, he represents Budhni, a tehsil place in Sehore District of Madhya Pradesh in the state assembly.(ANI)
