Chiranjeevi to campaign for Congress in Karnataka

Sonia Gandhi Hyderabad, Apr 6 (ANI): Telegu cine star and Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi will on Thursday campaign for the Congress Party in the by-election to Bangarupalem Assembly constituency in Karnataka.

According to reports, Union Minister of State for Railways K Muniyappa invited Chiranjeevi to campaign for the Congress considering the huge fan following of the actor-turned-politician in Karnataka.

The famed Telugu actor is also expected to campaign for the Congress-DMK combine in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls.

It has been reported that Chiranjeevi had a meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi a few days ago, wherein she requested him to be a star campaigner for the party in the Tamil Nadu polls.

Chiranjeevi will campaign in Tamil Nadu on April 8 and 9.

A total of 2,773 candidates will contest for seats in 234 Tamil Nadu Assembly constituencies, where polling will be held on April 13.

Chiranjeevi had on February 6 announced his party’s unconditional merger with the Congress Party after a meeting at Gandhi’s official 10, Janpath residence, in New Delhi. (ANI)
