Raipur, May 10 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutta on Monday stressed upon the need to have a better coordination in the system in the wake of Maoist attacks against the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.

On Saturday (May 8), seven personnel of CRPF were killed when suspected Maoist guerrillas triggered a landmine and blown off a convoy.

“People, who are operating and planning this, definitely they are learning with such incidents and they know that more coordination should be there. Assistance is there from both Chhattisgarh government and from the Central government. And for the development, there is nothing like development has stopped. Coordination is needed. We are identifying the weaknesses and working on them, ” said Shekhar Dutta.

One CRPF constable and two civilians on a motorcycle were also injured in the explosion.

A high alert was sounded in Chhattisgarh state after the attack.

Maoists in Dantewada district of the state had ambushed at least 76 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday (April 06).

The Maoists, described by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the country’s biggest internal security threat, started their armed struggle in Naxalbari town of West Bengal in 1967.

Hence, the name Naxalites and over the past four decades, they have expanded their support among farmers by tapping into resentment at the government’s pro-industry push.

The Maoists say they are crusading against the prevailing political system and in cause of the poor and marginal farmers and landless labourers.

They have spread into rural pockets in 20 of the country’s 28 states and the movement has upset business prospects worth billions of dollars in mining industries in central and eastern parts of the country. (ANI)
