Chandigarh, June 14 (ANI): A unique two day ‘Green Film Festival’ was organised here to focus on the vital aspect of environmental conservation.

The festival sponsored by the Tourism Department of Chandigarh in association with Humlog, a voluntary forum dedicated to ecological and other social issues, aims to sensitise the masses as well as the classes on the vital aspect of environmental conservation.

“People talk about environmental issues and global warming at the global level but they tend to forget that solution to the problems lies on the local people. Until work is not carried out at the local level, they won’t be any change. Films have become an effective tool which can reach out to the masses easily,” said Humlog’s Gourav Chhabra.

Films based on different environmental topics are being screened at the festival.

People in large numbers are enjoying the festival, which has eventually turned out to be an eye-opener for them.

“It’s actually a brilliant opportunity. Because there are many issues that happen and affect our live, but we never sit up and take notice. It’s something like this comes in front of you and watch movies for a while and you realise how things that we don’t pay attention are changing and affecting our lives. So it’s very important to sensitize the citizens,” said Brinda Sharma, an audience.

The festival ends today. (ANI)
