Sheikh Hasina New Delhi, Dec 8(ANI): The Government on Tuesday said that it has decided to deploy hi-tech electronic surveillance system on the international borders.

In written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home M. Ramachandran, said the hi-tech surveillance equipments such as hand held thermal imagers, battle field surveillance radars, long rang reconnaissance and observation system (LORROS), spotter scopes and night vision devices have been deployed on the international borders of the country to act as force multiplier for effective border management.

Earlier on December 1, on the same issues, Home Secretaries of India and Bangladesh had discussed cross-border terrorism, illegal immigration, smuggling of narcotics and militants along the northeast border.

India is optimistic about Bangladesh’s support in fighting militants, as the Sheikh Hasina Government has decided to fight both terrorism and fanaticism more firmly.

According to reports, it is not just the northeastern insurgent groups, who have used international border with Bangladesh, but Pakistan’s ISI has also repeatedly taken advantage of the open borders between India and Nepal and Bangladesh to export terror. (ANI)
