CBI to question Buta by Friday
August 20th, 2009 - 3:44 pm ICT by IBNSNew Delhi, Aug 20 (IBNS) Former Union minister Buta Singh will be questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by Friday in connection with the Rs 1 crore bribery case of his son Sarabjyot Singh alias Sweety.
Sweety was arrested by the CBI last month (July) for allegedly demanding bribe from Nashik-based contractor Ramrao Patil. He said his father Buta Singh, the Chairman of the National Commission for scheduled castes, knew about the ‘deal’ and had ‘no problem’ with it.
“The CBI has written to Singh that he should be ready to face interrogation by Friday,” a CBI official said on conditions of anonymity Thursday.
“Only after proper interrogation and investigation the CBI will be able to know if Singh was involved in the case or not,” the official said.
Earlier, Singh had said he is being ‘victimized’ and that he is ‘innocent’.
